Any reason why they didn't send Jessie Barr on her own merit for the 400mH as she has the B standard and was in great form in Helsinki??

Cregan is also a similar omission in the 400m. Is it just OCI policy not to send B standard athletes?? Considering the UK just sent a B standard athlete (Lynsey Sharp) ahead of 3 A standard athletes (Meadows, Okoro and Simpson) for the womens 800m it surely shows that they are confident picking on form is the right way to go(i.e. Sharp got silver in Helsinki and won the UK trials).

While I know they may not be medal prospects both of them held their own in Helsinki and surely the fact it is so close to home as well as giving them good experience it should be a no brainer to send them.

Any ideas?

The AAI and OCI have signed an agreement a while back saying that only athletes who have achieved A standards will be selected. It is on the AAI website under high performance. Those athletes haven't run A standards and therefore are not selected. In my opinion this is not right but at least is is fair and for a change they are being consistent with what they said.Athletes want clarity and clear guidelines on what is needed. When politics and vagueness come in to play that is when athletes and coaches get pissed of.Look at euro selection for example with Brian Murphy and Rory Chesser.I'm surprised to see Ciaran picked. No doubt he has A standard but has he should any form this year.I would have thought they would have waited for nationals to be over before picking a team though.

Joanne Cuddihys sister Catriona (55.5 pb) has been picked ahead of Joanna Mills (55.4 pb) on the 4x400m relay.... causing huge upset.... Interesting!
