New trail series in Cork..July & Aug 2013

The Munster branch of the Irish Mountain Running Association (IMRA) are organising a new trail series during the months of July and August 2013. The three events are organised near the towns of Fermoy, Mallow and Midleton.

The usual type of IMRA event tends to be running up to a summit of a mountain and back down again. This new trail series is on tracks and the gradients and surface is a lot easier. They should appeal to those who like running off-road and those who want to try something different than the usual road race. Ordinary training shoes are fine for these type of event, no specialist shoes are required.

The first event is on Wednesday evening, the 31st of July in Corrin Hill woods near Fermoy . Directions and maps HERE

@anonymous, I have run a few races this year and last with IMRA. Just turn up, it is very informal; they have a brilliant website - probably best in Ireland.Very friendly organisation, they seem to run about 40 races through the year.
Yesterday was the annual mangerton mountain race and was another great event with even the weather staying dry of the race.

Any of these events planned for West Cork please

Could my 12 year old try the trail run?

As far as I know, there should be no problems with 12 year olds taking part as long as they don't start at the front.

The trails are often used for orienteering events and all ages take part in those.
