You will see the signpost for Garryduff Sports centre and Mount Oval bar. At the end of this road, you come to a T-junction, the entrance to Rochestown Woods is straight ahead.

Unfortunately, parking facilities are not available at Garryduff Sports Centre so please do not park here. Parking is limited so car pool where possible. We suggest you park by Rochestown Inn (there is a car park across the road), along Upper Belmont Avenue or Upper Kensington. Please be considerate of local residents. NO PARKING IN THE LANE leading to the woods and under no circumstances is the lane to be blocked as urgent access may be required.

Notice: IMRA Claragh Mtn 7km Trail Race - Sat 16th Mar 2024

IMRA are holding their next trail race on Saturday 16th of March 2024 at 12 noon starting in the town of Millstreet in NW Cork.

When you're standing at the road junction at the west end of Millstreet, you can look up at Claragh Mtn and it's hard to imagine that a run up to the summit and back again is only 7kms. However, the 340m climb does compensate for the shorter distance.

This is a good event for anyone who has done a forest trail race already and would like to try a 'mountain event'. It should be noted that in terms of mountains, this one is really small, it's a good intro.

Notice: IMRA Mushera-Boggeraghs 11km race - Sun 3rd Mar 2024

IMRA are holding an 10.8km trail and mountain race on Sunday 3rd March 2024 in the Boggeragh Mtns. While it's called the 'Mushera-Boggeraghs' event, it would probably better be described as a run/walk up to the summit of Musheramore mountain and back down again.

The total ascent is 500m so it's not too difficult but it's certainly a step up from the IMRA trail races in the various woods.

For those of you who don't know, Musheramore is the closest 600m/2000ft mountain to Cork City and is located to the NE of Macroom and SE of Millstreet. If you go to any high ground around Cork City, it's clearly visible away to the north west.
