Results & Photos of the IMRA Nagles Marathon & Half-Marathon - Sat 9th Mar 2024

First 3 women in the IMRA Nagles Marathon

The IMRA Nagles Marathon & Half-Marathon was held on Saturday 9th March 2024.

The full 42km event had a total of 1330m of ascent and had 32 finishers. There were 100 finishers in the 21km half which had 750m of ascent.

Notice: IMRA Nagle Trail Half-Marathon & Marathon - Sat 9th Mar 2024


IMRA are organising two long distance trail races on the Nagle Mountains in Co Cork on Saturday 9th March 2024.

Half-Marathon:

DISTANCE (KM):21.00
RACE MARKING: Route fully marked - Route fully marked
GPS ALLOWED: Yes
LEAGUES: Munster Half-Marathon League 
MANDATORY KIT: Level B - Standard, Waterproof jacket, Hat or buff, Gloves, Whistle, Charged mobile phone with emergency number stored, Foil blanket, bivvy bag or equivalent
All runners must bring the above items to the race. The actual kit to be carried during the race will be finalised on the day, depending on conditions etc., and clearly advised at Registration. You should also have the means to carry all the kit in case required. Failure to have the required items may lead to you being denied entry to the race, or disqualification. Random checks may be carried out.

Results of the IMRA Nagles Marathon & Half-Marathon - Sat 11th March 2023

The IMRA Nagle Mountains Marathon and Half Marathon was held last Saturday the 11th of March 2023 and a total of 172 runners took part.

These were two challenging events with 117 completing the half-marathon and 55 completing the full marathon.

The winning times of 1:49 for the half and 3:49 for the full give some idea of how tough the course was.

Results & Photos of the IMRA Nagles Trail Half-Marathon - Sat 28th Aug 2021

The main running event last weekend in Cork was of course the IMRA Nagles Trail Half-Marathon which was held to the north-east of Cork City.


A grand total of 85 runners took part with Denis Hegarty of Watergrasshill AC in Cork finishing in first place. Deirdre O'Gorman from Tipperary was the first woman home.

Results of the MMRA Nagles Trail Race...Sun 3rd Sept 2017



This 19km trail race organised by the Munster Mountain Running Association was held in the Nagles Mountains near Ballyhooly on Sunday the 3rd of Sept 2017. The results only came out in the last few days.

The route was described as follows..."A point to point race from Ballyhooly to Killavullen across the Nagles mountains with some changes to the route from previous years. The route covers approx. 19km with about 650m of elevation gain."

After the Loop de Loop event in the Glen of Aherlow on Saturday, the trail season winds down. The one event left is a night time trail run in Currabinny Woods on Thurs 26th October 2017.

Notice...MMRA trail race on the Nagles - Sun 6th Sept 2015

This is another race coming up next Sunday the 6th of September. The Munster Mountain Running Association (MMRA) will be holding an 18km trail race across the Nagle Mountains. This is a point to point race starting near Ballyhooly and finishing near Kilavullen.


The Nagles are located between Fermoy and Mallow.

Getting There: Parking will be available in the large Forest Car Park at Glenagaar W 641 970. this is just South of Killavullen Village. From the north head to Mallow, Take the N72 to Killavullen, cross the bridge and turn left when the road forks. continue on till you see the car park on the right. From Cork:- after rathduff take the first right signposted Bottlehill. take the 2nd road on the left signposted killavullen and continue for 10km until you see the carpark on left.

Organisers Instructions: This is a point to point race from Ballyhooly to Killavullen across the Nagles mountains. A minibus will leave the Registration Car Park to bring competitors to the start, we've hired a 14 seater, the first bus will leave at 10.30am and the second at 11am. The finish is beside the Registration cap park. This race is open to all and the cost is €10.
 

If you have already run an IMRA race this year, please bring the race number given to you at that race as it is valid for the full year. However, if this is your first IMRA race this year, you must purchase yearly IMRA membership for €10 per person. Please download the membership form, and fill it out beforehand to speed up registration (they will be available on the day too). You will then be given a race number that is used for other IMRA races this year.
