Race notice...Carrigtwohill 5 km road race - Wed 17th July 2013

The Carrigtwohill 5 km road race is coming up on Wednesday, the 17th of July 2013. The venue for the race is Barryscourt Castle just to the south of the town of Carrigtwohill in East Cork. This race always attracts a large crowd every year and is bound to attract a large turnout this year again.

The race which starts at 8pm costs €8 to enter and all proceeds are going to charity. There is also a walk starting at 6:30pm and that costs €5 to enter.

Registration will be available the evening before the 16th from 7pm to 9pm and on the day of the race (17th) from 1pm

HI John

Just see on your course preview that there's a slight change to the route this year with the start going the oppoiste way and out on the main road. This should improve things as it was an narrow enough start.

Could they open registration the night before for maybe and hour or two. Maybe 6 to 8. Just an idea. It has worked well for other races with big numbers

I like the old course better but am biased as I have run it over 100times in training. The start of the new course is much wider than before which should ease congestion at the start of the race.

the new course is very similar to the old one with the new wider start area making it alot more enjoyable.

This is my 1st year doing the walk-is there parking available on the night of the race for walkers?

There will be plenty of parking for runners and walkers.
