Results of the 5k parkruns in Cork - Sat 7th Oct 2023

Results of the 5k parkruns around the county on Saturday 7th Oct 2023. Approximately 823 runners and walkers took part in the 10 events in Co Cork.

Report... The weather was much improved for the 5k parkruns this weekend in contrast to the deluge last week and the numbers taking part seem well up. Ballincollig was back in action after it was cancelled last week due to flooding and 230 turned out.

Barry Twohig set a new course record at the Glen River 5k parkrun with a time of 16:30, beating the previous record of 16:31 which was set by Jordan Beleffi from France back on the 4th of May 2019.

The Clonakilty 5k parkrun hit a new milestone with its 400th event! The first Clonakilty 5k parkrun was held on the 1st of February 2014.

At the Macroom parkrun. Martina Kiely set a new female course record with a time of 18:56, an improvement of 27-seconds on the previous record of 19:23 which Martina had set just two weeks earlier.
