Guest Post: World Mental Health Day Pat Walsh

** MENTAL HEALTH ** - World Mental Health Day 10th October.

I love running and all it does for my mental health. Without a good mental state we are lost, floundering and in no way capable of performing physically.

I beat this drum regularly, I have no qualifications but a passion to just help people every day and drag them out of any hole they may have fallen into.

Michael Stipe (REM) famously wrote:
“Well, everybody hurts sometimes
Everybody cries
Everybody hurts, sometimes”

We run and think times are important.

Running is the important part, the time is just a reflection that you turned up. Don’t sweat the small stuff and be grateful you ran.

No buddy like a running buddy, share the pain in more ways than one.
I have great running friends and I am always thankful for that.

Think about the family and friends of those affected by that awful tragedy in Donegal.
Think about those that would like to run but cannot.

Think of those who lost their way last 3 years and are now longer running and not sure how to get back into it.

There are lots of mini-crisis going on in the world that are affecting everyone of us in one way or another.

Keep your eyes and ears open to those around you who may need help.
If you need help yourself, reach out to someone.

Baz Luhrman wrote / sang:
“Don't worry about the future
Or worry, but know that worrying
Is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing Bubble gum
The real troubles in your life
Are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind
The kind that blindsides you at 4 p.m. on some idle Tuesday”

If you do anything today make it something to make the world a better place.
Be kind to others.
If you can’t say something nice say nothing.

A smile to a stranger is a beautiful Irish trait.
A kind word to someone could be the difference between a good and bad day.

"And let the spirit of love that united our soul
Be a gentle dove and guide you to your goal" : Altan
