Numbers for this half-marathon in Blarney were almost identical to last year.... 289 in 2022 and 283 in 2021. It kind of suggests that the numbers at races in 2023 might be on a par with this year i.e. no big recovery.

good event , low key but was a ideal run before the DCM. that said some of the stewarding at critical points was lacking in particular at the road junction that meets the waterloo inn. a driver in a golf car was really tearing it and it was only pure luck he didn't hit the runners coming over the bridge. he swerved on the wrongside of the road and back into the path of runners. Even a couple of young lads watching the race commented on it. Also the stretch from mile 11 to 13 is very dangerous, no sign of any stewards just a guy on a bike. the local cycle club plus a couple of vans also came into contact with runners. i just found it safer to go on the footpath. it's a nice race and while it doesn't have the feel of a proper running event a la Charleville it is a good event. it just the stewarding needs to be managed better otherwise someone will get hurt.

Did anyone else find the course a little short?

Couldn’t fault this event. Great organisation and really lovely people at all junctions. Felt safe throughout. Huge congrats to the organisers. And super hot showers after. Thanks

Someone mentioned last year that the GPS coverage along sections of the course is poor due to overhanging trees. That might be the reason the course seems short.

My GPS also measured a little short last year and this, but that notwithstanding, I thoroughly enjoyed both years. I have no complaints about the stewarding. The roads weren't closed, as usual with events of this size, so there isn't much the organisers can do about irresponsible members of the public.

I think it could be a fast course! I had a five minutes PB, as did three others that I talked to afterwards!
