Pedestrian Bridge in Mahon Closed in Early Sept 2017

The original plan was that the pedestrian bridge in Mahon over the N40 South Ring Road will be closed from Monday the 28th of August to Friday the 8th of September 2017. It's unlikely to last that long though and it should open earlier.

Updates...
Fri 1st Sept. The photo above was taken at noon on Fri 1st Sept. The contractors are still working on it.

Wed 30th Aug. The bridge was closed today as the contractors were working on it. However, they should be finished in a day or two and the bridge should be open by the weekend! The St.Lukes 5k will go ahead as planned.

This is to accommodate maintenance and resurfacing works.

The map below shows the location in the south-east corner of Cork City for anyone not familiar with it.  Any walkers or runners can take a detour by using the bridge near Mahon Point which is just to the east.
