2015 Sports Capital Programme open until Fri 24th April

This might be of interest to some athletic clubs.

Back in July of 2014, I had a post up about how only €800 out of €4.2 million in sports grants in Cork went to athletics. That €800 in question went to Ballymore Cobh AC.

As some people pointed out, a lot of athletic clubs don't have their own facilities and can't avail of these grants. However, plenty of other athletic clubs elsewhere in the country managed to get substantial grants so it's obviously not the case that all clubs in Cork couldn't avail of a grant with the exception of one.

The Sports Capital Programme (SCP) is operated by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and provides grants to assist in the development of sports facilities and the provision of sports equipment. The 2015 Sports Capital Programme is open for applications until the deadline for applications...5pm on Friday 24 April 2015. Registrations will close at 5pm on Friday 10 April 2015.

If you think your club might be able to avail of a grant then go to https://www.sportscapitalprogramme.ie/

considering most clubs meet on the side of a road or in car parks of shopping centres and are adult oriented (ages 30 plus) what can they spend the money on?

Roughly 70-80% of athletic clubs have juvenile members. A lot of clubs need equipment and training facilities for them.
