very small number off runners. i think it is because off the time off the day it was on.the middle off the day on a bank hoilday is not grate for a race because it still takes the hold day. the cost off 20 euro for a 4 mile race is far to much. might pay it for a 10 ml but notting less.

Under normal circumstances of course €20 is too much for a short road race but this needs to be put in context.While only a small number raced,over 150 took part in the walk/jog section.This was part of a 'Fun Day' fundraiser for the wonderful Bantry Hospice. The entry fee included entertainment and a substantial BBQ provided by the Westlodge hotel.Every cent of the entry fee went to the Hospice fund and Bantry AC and sponsors shouldered all race costs and prizes.It was a great success and a credit to all involved.
Just to echo what Rose said, you need to look at the context of the race.
This wasn't your average 4 mile road race organised by a club. It was put on to raise funds for a local charity.
I was down in Cork on holidays & ran the race with my friends. We thought it was a great race; the route was lovely, all the Bantry AC people were so friendly, the barbeque after was great etc etc. We knew when paying our entry fee that it was €20 because it was in aid of the Hospiec fund and we were delighted to contribute.
