The current forecast for the St.Lukes 5k race this evening in Mahon is for dry, overcast and windy conditions. There is some serious rain on the way but it should be here until well after dark, maybe closer to midnight.
The biggest factor this evening is going to be the wind which is from the south-east although it may not be so bad due to the nature of the course.
From 1km to 2km, the field will be running directly into the wind but this part of the course is inside the railway cutting is protected by the steep sides and vegetation. From 2 to 3, it will be rough but for the last 2kms, the wind should behind the runners all the way to the finish line.
Remember the race starts at 7pm and registration is at St.Lukes Home.
Proceeds from the race go towards St.Lukes Home and all finishers will get a hi-viz vest as well as a 20% discount voucher from John Buckley Sports.
