What an outstanding evening, so well organized. From the time zones at the beginning to the amount of stewards around the course the atmosphere and support. Not a mind the food after – top class. 10 euro entry was well worth it and free t-shirt, that’s what I call value for money. Great community event. Keep up the hard work, will be back next year.

WOW what a race. Has to be the best 4 mile around. The organization that went into it - from the start where they zoned the times/atmosphere/plenty stewards/endless list of prizes and the food was out of this world. Great community effort well done to all involved.

Well done to race directors John Cashman and Sean Murphy on what has to be the best organised race in the county! Perfect running conditions and a huge crowd and the race went of so smoothly. Huge community effort, great atmosphere and hospitality, not to mention the great food afterwards. Thanks to all who made this such a great run and a highlight of my running year. At €10, fantastic evenings entertainment. Looking forward to next year already, THANKS!

Really enjoyed the race. Perfect night for it, great course, huge support very well organised. No issue getting in or out on the night. And it's great to be able to register the day before or earlier in the day. No wonder it broke the 1000 barrier this year.

A couple of things, not just for this race but a lot of them. It is very annoying when you have time zones and you clearly see people in there that are no where near the time they are going to finish. I had some people around me joking about where they were. And large groups of friends just jumping in and that holds a lot of people up.
And to the person from Youghal AC right at the end, I wasn't impressed with the way he struggled towards the line, he turned back and saw I was about to pass him and he blocked me off. I had to come to a complete stop to avoid knocking him over, which could have caused me injury.

But I will definitely be back next year.

Well done to all.

Wow, now that's how you organize a race. Best race I have ever attended in a long time, possibly ever. Other races should carbon copy this

For only 10e we got...
- plenty of information online prior to event
- superb car parking operation (v well taught out I must say)
- car parks flood light
- endless marshals and assistants
- free t-shirt
- plenty registration desks, no queuing!
- changing area
- heaps of food, tea, water
- A PA system in which you can actually hear the MC <- could be a first!!
- Excellent running commentary and info throughout the night
- well marked out estimated finish times at the start
- results out early next morning, a great feat considering no chips and over 1,000 runners
- timekeepers at mile 1, 2 and 3
- I'm sure there's more!

And to top it all off I broke the 25min barrier with a PB :)

Yes, I have to say it was a very well organised race. The only thing I'd like to point out is that €10 is quite a lot for a short race (even allowing for the t-shirt). I run a lot of these short races, and this is the most expensive. I'm not sure why they charge so much. I could understand and would feel better about it if they were giving half to charity but that doesn't seem to be the case.
I don't want to sound negative as the race itself was fantastic but I do feel it was unnecessarily pricey.

Didn't run a PB unfort, but that doesn't take from me the fact that I really enjoyed the run, really well organised race, great crowd, friendly people. Hats off to Ballintotis! Where do I sign up for next year?

10 euros is a great price for what is clearly a very well organised event. Races of this length are often twice and three times the price in other countries which I know from personal experience. People should appreciate Cork has a fantastic road running scene and should realise a lot of hard work, cost and volunteering goes into these races.

Was really worried beforehand about registration queues with such large numbers predicted but have to say registration was excellent. Fair play to all organisers. Well run race. A few more L t-shirts wouldn't go astray though :-)

Now THAT is how to organise a race. Everything about last night was fantastic. Take a bow everyone involved in the organisation of it. I'm guessing every one of us 1,010 runners really enjoyed it. I will be back.

From Ballintotis Area Community Council. In relation to the comment by Anonymous at 11.15am regarding the "pricey" cost of entry for a 4 mile race. Thank you for your your observation of how well organised the event was. In fact our race is 100% a Charity Event. All monies raised go to our Community Council funds. We are a registered charity. For 5 years this race has benefited our Community Centre building fund which still has outstanding debts. The massive comminity effort/spirit was once again in evidence. Thanks to all who contributed to the event in any way.

Great race. Well organised. Just one problem, 4 toilets for over 1000 people. I was unable to go before the race due to the queue. I guess it made me run faster though.

Enjoyed race - huge numbers but well organised. Agree with comment about toilets though - 4 toilets not enough for 1000 plus people. Queued for 30 mins and was late for start of race and could not judge my race time as a result....

Didnt do this race last year and i wasnt going to do it this year because i heard numbers were going to b big.I am glad i changed my mind, what a race from driving into it, to registration, no delays for a place that had over a 1000 people.
Even walking back to car park later on and to see the lights every where.Well done to everyone involved in the running of this great event.Great start to the evening races.

€10 for a race and someone complaining - some people want everything for nothing. The t-shirt and food you get on the night alone must take up a lot of the €10 before you even consider the amount of work that goes into it all. What world is that person living in!!

Anonymous said...

To be honest I see where that person is coming from, usually 5ks are about 7e. For a once off runner 10e is nothing but racing season is starting around the Cork city region and for a reqular 10e is a bit steep for only 4 miles. Is there need for a t-shirt , perhaps not?

what a well organised race from start to finish cant understand why people are complaining about price €10 for great race t shirt and a great spread of food after. Has to be one of the best races out there well done ballintotis it keeps getting better each year
