Claire McCarthy is the first Irish woman home in the European Half-Marathon Championships

In the European Half-Marathon Championships in Amsterdam today, Claire McCarthy of Leevale AC in Cork finished in a time of 1h 16m 02s. While Claire's time was slightly slower than her PB of 1:15:18 which was set in Barcelona last February, the conditions today were warm and humid which made running more difficult.

The second Irish woman home was Gladys Ganiel O'Neill in a time of 1:18:06.

Well done to Claire mcCarthy running such a great time in touch conditions. This is truly a great achievement for her having 4 children. Is it true she fell at the start? Well done Claire.
