The John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road road is coming up at the end of this month in West Waterford. With that in mind, it might be appropriate to look back at the 1984 Olympic Marathon in Los Angeles and the performance that put the man from Villierstown on the podium.

Great memories a true legend.
Remember the night well, brilliant time, we were up feeding new baby while watching, now almost thirty years later same baby has over ten marathons under his belt. Thanks for the memories John
I have been watching athletics for over 40 years on tv etc. and that was definately one of the most memorable moments...and earlier to have 2 Irish runners in the top 10 positions ,John Treacy and Jerry Kiernan....the tv coverage was'nt great ,who cares !!!
Thanks for the video John, nostalgic and reminds us all of how good John T was indeed.
What a great run by John Treacy. How many get an olympic silver for their first ever marathon?
The Kenyans and Ethiopians hadn't arrived in force at this stage.
