Hi I did take part. It had the feel of a scaled back event with less people around. However the spirit and goodwill from locals along the course was better than ever. Don't know where it is going but some locals are up for it and I as a competitor enjoyed and thank their effort.

It's a tough run and perfect training for cork marathon. 50 euro is still too expensive though when compared to the likes of ballycotton or blarney half. Organisation was good and support from locals was great.

While a scenic race, it's too expensive coupled with a diesel bill to get there and back from Cork. Again, better value races organised by clubs are winning out.

I didn't take part this year due to injury, but took part in the last 3 Bayrun's. Nevertheless i was at the finish line. Instantly noticed a dramatic reduction in numbers in the race and at the finish. It was obvious that there was a pearing back of the race, due to reduction in numbers. For example, no visible time display at the finish,
Even though there was a mat at about 50m from the finish (suposedly identifying the athletes to the announcer), the announcer was encouraging the finishers using their number rather than their name.
€50 is a significant factor in the reduction of numbers, particularly as every town and village in the county has a road race.
It's a pity that that this once great race has lost its way.

I did it again this year and enjoyed it only for the fact that I didn't receive a t-shirt at the finish as they were out of my size. Sour taste after running half a marathon. Otherwise enjoyed it.

Well, organised, lovely course but entry fee is steep. Locals along the route were great

Did this run on Sunday and just a few points to make. They didn't have any water at the finish which was disgraceful. The only option was a bottle of blue powerade.
Also, there was no timing clock at the finish which they had every other year.
Another example of corners which were cut was there was no half way timing mat, no massage at the finish.
Also, the only food offered at the finish was a tiny bag of Haribo jellies. I have done this race every year since it started and the only reason I have done so, is because of the amazing scenery, and it suits my training.
If the organisers had decided to cut corners for the final running of this race they should have also cut the entry fee accordingly.

From what I understand, this was not the last year of this event. There will be different organisers next year.

Have to agree on the costings, it is not worth the entry fee. It was my first time doing it and have found much better value in other events. On the clock at the line, for some reason the time was only being displayed on the reverse side, how was this un noticed?

Loved the run despite the cost and I would do it again. I didn't get a t shirt either as all small sizes left. Never happened to me before....usually all large sizes remain at end of race. That's not acceptable and there were many runners after me who must have been in the same situation.
Everything else was fantastic and well done to all the organisers... sort out that issue for next year. `can you do anything to sort all those who paid 50 euro this year and didn't get a t shirt?

€50 is a huge deterrent especially when one has to factor in petrol/diesel costs involved in a trip back to west Cork. Organising committee need to look at this for next year because runners are spoilt for choice with races. Otherwise, numbers will continue to decline.

Fantastic well organised event. 10am was a perfect starting time. This was my third year running this event and I was disappointed to see a drop in numbers. I would like to have seen the time displayed to the runners at the finish line. I noticed later that it was faced the other way round!
€50 is more expensive than most running events but I feel that it was worth it. It has to be one of the most scenic road races in Ireland :)

Not happy about the t-shirt situation. Emailed the organisers about this as it is the only way of contacting them and heard no reply. I feel there is no excuse for this other than simply not caring. I and many others from my athletic club will not be taking part in next years race as a result.

Interesting to read the comments. I too wrote to the organisers via e mail regarding the t shirt problem and got no answer. Even an apology would make me feel better about it. A response of some some sort from the organisers would be appreciated. Surely it's important to keep future customers/runners happy.......if they want our 50 euro again next year! It was my only grievance with the event.

Thanks to the organisers, they did reply to my e mail and are sorting any concerns I had. Fair play!
