Results of the Cork BHAA 'John Buckley Sports' 5k road race...Tues 28th May 2013

A record entry of 968 runners turned out for this year's Cork BHAA 'John Buckley Sports' 5k road race in Cork City, a jump of 24% on last year's figure of 783. That's an incredible number for a 5k race. I wonder how long is it before the 1,000 barrier is broken for a BHAA race? 2014?

The overall number wasn't the only record to go on the evening with the winner of the womens race Laura Crowe setting a new course record of 16:16.

Super race, well done to the organisers and the runners!

Excellent setup, although didnt actually hang around for and extras at the end. Good to see taping up to stop any short cuts!

Best run BHAA race on the calender and a lot of it can be put down to the introduction of chip timing. There was no waiting in lines before or after the race which was great. Results up with in a couple of hours too. Well done John Buckleys hopefully this will start a trend for BHAA races in the future

I thought the pre-registration was a good idea. The only thing about the large numbers is that the start is a bit scary, but once you get going it's fine. Also didn't hang around for tea, just was nice to get a fast race done and do a bit of a 'meet and greet'!!

Start a bit scary all right - was up at the front and got clipped from behind in the first 30 or 40 metres. Very nearly ended up on my face- would have caused some pile-up, it's inevitable with such a big crowd in a fast race, no ones fault. Great race though many thanks to the organisers and chip timing a huge improvement on last year.

Registered on the night. No time shown. Were all competitors entered to the system?
