Well done on a very good race. It extremely well organised and it had the feel of bigger race i.e a Bay Run or a Ballycotton. Congrats.
really enjoyed t
oday... I agree with the previous comment.. very well run and the cup of tea afterwards was lovey too!
I've only been running for 2 years, but today in Youghal surpassed anything that I've experienced at any previous venue in any county. It was an occasion, an experience, I felt that i was part of something great. Maybe it was because of the nature of the race and where the proceeds were going but everything about the day was unforgettable :-
the sunny weather, the organisation, the multitude of stewards, the buzz at the start (even the provision of portable toilets at the start !), the absolutely amazing crowds lined all along the route, the DJ blaring out music out on the course, even the buzz of passing all those iconic Youghal landmarks on the route ( bandstand, lighthouse, passing under the famous clocktower..),the finishline next to the beach, the fantastically organised bus service back to race HQ, and the trad band playing music while we ate afterwards.
Its an experience I won't forget for a long time - thanks to all involved : it was great to play a part in a wonderful event and day. It really was a credit to the memory of Emer Casey.
Looking forward to next year already.
I agree, really enjoyed it!! Fantastic event, extremely well organised, well done to all. Great start, brilliant running through Youghal, which looked top class and the finish couldn't be better.... Quick dip in the sea then to cool off... If Carlsberg did races... Oh and delighted to feel part of an amazing cause..
i am actually raging......with myself for not doing this run sooner. :) I have been threatning to do it since i started running and I only got around to it yesterday. absolutely great run. really enjoyed it. agreed with all of the above.
Fabulous race again this year and the family of Emer Casey should be very proud of themselves and the Youghal People for the great work they put in. Wonderful weather, warm down in the sea and tasty cakes, what more could you ask for x
Any idea what the breakdown between runners and walkers was? I assume 484 was the combined number?
It looks as if the 484 were those registered as runners.
If you look at the results, you can see the pace. A casual walking pace is 20min/mile. A very brisk walk is 15min/mile. Anyone doing say 12 mins/mile is running slowly.
