Last month, the site got 37,744 hits, an increase of 64% on the figure of 23,065 for January 2011. It was also the second highest level ever and was only surpassed by June of last year.
Looking back / Looking ahead.......Looking back at 2011, it was a busy year for road races in Cork and Munster with many events attracting hundreds of runners. Along the way, we had a few new races like the Doneraile Steeplechase, Tramore Valley 5 mile, etc which were added to an already busy calendar.
Judging from the level of interest for entries to races like the Ballycotton '10' and the Dungarvan '10', the numbers in 2012 are going to increase yet again. As we head towards the summer and the London Olympics, the amount of athletic related news items in the mainstream media like newspapers / Radio / TV is bound to increase. This may well spark some interest in members of the general public in trying a bit of running themselves and we may well see lots of new runners in the second half of the year.
It's also likely that we are going to see the introduction of more new races this year. While some might complain about there being too many races, the reality is that for other more casual runners, it will be a new event on their doorstep. My own guess is that as the numbers rise, there will be more than enough runners to sustain most of the existing and new races alike. So overall, I think we have a pretty positive and busy year ahead.

Well done and keep up the good work. It is because of THIS site that us runners know when and where the races are on.
We get previews, results and the odd photo of us struggling over the line.

Only problem i have with it john, is that its very addictive, in a good way mind. Checks a few times a day, would be totally lost without it, probally need to get out more often i know. Well done. plus echo all the above coments
