Empire State Building race 2012...

It's that time of year again...the Empire State Building race went ahead last Wednesday in New York City. Contestants started on the ground floor and ran the 1,576 steps or 102 floors to the top. Thomas Dold of Stuttgart, Germany won the men's race for a record seventh straight time and Melissa Moon of Wellington, New Zealand won the women's race.

About 650 people registered for this year's race, said Drea Braxmeier, a spokeswoman for the New York Road Runners, which hosted the race. NYRR also puts on the annual New York City Marathon. Like the marathon, start times were staggered. The elite men and woman started before the general field. In another first this year, the general public was allowed to start at 10-second intervals to avoid a crush of people all trying to get to the initial flights of stairs at the same time.

Empire State Building Race 2011....

Now that we have a bit of  lull in the number of road races, it's time to catch up with a few other posts.

A few weeks back, the annual Empire State Building Race took place in New York. This is one persons unique take on it. If you thought the start of the Ballyandreen '5' was narrow then this kind of puts it into perspective ;o)
