Guest Post: Beat the Train 10-Mile ...by Pat Walsh

 ** Beat The Train 10mile ** 🚃🚃

Fantastic charity race coming up on November 12th.

It is run on the Wateford Greenway starting from Kilmeaden Station with a 5ml out and 5ml back loop.

Money raised goes to Down Syndrome Waterford and Down Syndrome South Kilkenny groups. It is hosted by the fantastic Saturday Road Runners gang.

So if your training is going well then this is one to test your speed late in the Year. Get some decent tempo runs for stamina and some speed intervals to improve leg turn-over and you might even Beat the Train….! 🤣

If your training has slipped then it might be worth considering. 9 weeks to go from Saturday and plenty of time to train for it. Get out for 2 nice midweek runs and every weekend add 1 mile to your long run. What could be simpler.

Starting next Monday A sample training plan.

Week 12/9   3, 3, 3
Week 19/9   3, 3, 4
Week 26/9   3, 3, 5
Week 3/10    3, 4, 5
Week 10/10   3, 4, 6
Week 17/10   4, 4, 7
Week 24/10   4, 4, 8
Week 31/10   4, 4, 9
Week 31/10   4, 4, 7
Week 07/11   3, 3 Race Day 🥰

Could also be a good stretch of the legs after DCM22 to check if they are still working. It is only 10 miles, handy one

For anyone who runs you will be happy you made the effort and I can tell you, this is one of the nicest feel-good races you will ever take part in. All for a good cause in a stunning location with the most hospitable of people.
