First 3-women in the 2022 Cork City 10-miler (L-R) Fiona Santry (3rd), Shona Heaslip (1st) & Niamh Moore (2nd) |
This years Cork City 10-miler was held on Saturday the 10th of August 2022 with 1054 runners crossing the finish line. This is almost identical to the 1045 in the last edition in 2019 which is a good showing most races are showing negative growth since the pandemic.
Someone did send me a message to say that they measured the course long at 10.12 miles but I suspect the tree coverage over the railway cutting in Blackrock might lead to some poor GPS coverage and inaccurate readings.
(Update: Someone said in the comments that the first mile was too long)

I was 10.13. Seemed to be off vs. signs after just a couple of miles, but I suspected that was down to the large crowd, weaving course and wide roads (missing racing line) in the early pack running.
It was the first mile was wrong.. everyone around me measured 1.12 on the first mile. after that each mile was a mile but first mile mark was totally in the wrong place. I think the start line was in the wrong position.
Most finished 10.14 around me
Great race and supurb work by the race organisers. Any event wil 1000+ persons participating is a lot of work. Thanks to the Barrs for a well organised day.
