The big sporting event in Cork this weekend is the IRONMAN event in Youghal. On the Saturday, there is the 70.3 event with the full IRONMAN on Sunday the 14th.

I cycled the 90km route last Wednesday and took some photos... shown below - just click on them to see them in more detail.
There was certainly a buzz about the place in Youghal with lots of signs and bunting outside peoples houses along the route. The section from Youghal to Ballymacoda and down the coast to Cloyne and East Ferry is a stunning part of the course and very scenic.
When I was going through Youghal, there was even a pod of dolphins swimming around where the swim will take place and it's a lovely spot.
The IRONMAN is Youghal hasn't had a great start with poor weather pre-covid in 2019 and then covid cancellations of course in 2020. The weather for this weekend will be superb and it should be a great event for spectators and contestants alike.
