Thomas Barr sets new National Record to finish 4th in Olympic final

In another amazing performance, Thomas Barr of Ferrybank AC ran a personal best time of 47.97 seconds to finish 4th in the final of the 400m Hurdles in Rio today. Not only was that a new national record but it also broke the previous record of 48.39 seconds which he set in the semi-final just two days ago.

With his trademark strong finish, Thomas stormed down the home straight to finish within five one-hundredths of a second of the Turkish athlete in 3rd.

It probably emphasises one again that if Ireland is to win medals in major world championships then it has to be in technical events like hurdles, race walking, hammer, etc.

I think we have too big an obese problem with children as it is without you promoting star bars on an athletics blog. I know where you are coming from but..........

He could have run to Mars and back if not the Galaxy or the Milky Way. A great Boost for athletics. What he needs now is a Time Out or a Kit Kat perhaps and have a few Twirls and Bountys. Wouldn't he be a right auld Double Decker then!
