Back in early October, I had a post up about the IAAF shortlist for best international athlete of 2012. Following that, I put up a poll and asked the readers of the blog who they thought the best athlete should be? I selected the best known men and women from the list and created a poll for each.
The poll for the best man got 177 votes and the result shows Mo Farah just edging out David Rudisha. Interestingly enough, only 20% selected Usain Bolt which perhaps might suggest that he may not do so well in the real vote?
The most popular choice in the womens poll was of course Jessica Ennis who must now be odds on favourite to win.
The Council of the International Athletic Foundation will select the male and female winners during a special ceremony in Barcelona on the 24th of November.
