Some races over the next few days...

A quick look ahead to some races over the next few days...

On Thursday evening (21st June), the Cork BHAA are holding the Daniel Kingston 5k road race in Macroom. There is usually a lot of local support for this so there should be a big crowd. The race starts at 8pm and as usual, it's €5 for registered runners and €8 for non-reg.

On Friday evening (22nd June), there is the Dromana 5 mile road race in West Waterford. This follows the route that Olympic Silver medalist John Treacy would have taken as a boy as he ran home from school and which paid dividends later in the Los Angeles Games of 1984. The race starts in John Treacy's home town of Villierstown and finishes in Cappoquin. More details HERE.

Also on Friday evening at the track in CIT in Cork City is the John Buckley Sports Track and Field League. The schedule for Friday includes an 800m and a 3,000m race. Not only are these races geared towards experienced athletes but they are also a good way for someone to try a track race for the first time .

On Saturday evening, the Ballyhoura Active Series continues with the Eddie Murphy Memorial 5 mile road race to the south of Pallasgreen in East Limerick. The race is actually a few miles to the south on the Limerick / Tipperary border. More details with instructions on how to get there can be seen on the Running in Munster website.
