Cork Runners in the 2008 National Half Marathon...
The AAI NAtional Half Marathon took place in Waterford last Sunday and a large crowd of 430 runners took part. Here are the Cork runners that got into the medals...

Masters Men - 2nd Over 45 - Cathal O'Connell, St. Finbarr's AC (73.17)
Masters Men - 3rd Over 55 - Pat Twomey, Eagle A.C. (87.55)
Masters Men - 2nd Over 60 - Frank Cashman, East Cork (84.11)
Masters Men - 2nd Over 65 - Tony Dune, Grange Fermoy AC (114.29)

Masters Women - 3rd Over 35 - Gillian Sohun, Grange Fermoy AC (95.38)
Masters Women - 3rd Over 40 - Ger O'Shea, St. Finbarr's AC (91.58)
Masters Women - 1st Over 45 - Mary Sweeney, St. Finbarr's AC (88.13)
Masters Women - 1st Over 60 - Maggie Dunne, Grange Fermoy AC (116.42)

The next race in Cork is the Half Marathon in Blarney on Sunday, the 14th of September. Tomorrow, I'll do a preview of it.

"This race in Waterford was excellent, with fabulous weather for a change, and a nice, steady course. If it's held at this venue again next year it will be a good thing, as it drew a much larger entry than Letterkenny last year......Maggie"
"Agreed Maggie, it was very well organised. However, they have to move it around the country as it would not be fair for people up the country to travel so far every year. Considering that it will be probably be a few years before it comes this far South again, it was well worth doing considering it was on our doorstep.........John Desmond"
