An example of a race flyer from 1986...
On Wednesday the 1st of July, there is a 10k race in Dundrum in Tipperary which has been going now for 30 years. The organsers sent me an old race flyer from 1986 when things were a bit more basic than today. The top prizes back then were a Black & White portable TV and a Deep Fat Fryer! :o)
If you're interested in a flat fast 10k race in Tipperary on the 1st of July then you'll find details here... http://munsterrunning.blogspot.ie/2015/06/noticecoillte-10k-road-race-dundrum.html

This 4 mile road race in Inniscarra is coming up on Friday, the 19th of June 2015...
The race HQ is the GAA grounds in Ballyanly which is to the north-west of Cork City...
It's probably not the easiest of courses but it's on nice quiet country roads. On a nice sunny summer evening, it's a nice spot for a race. The ease of access and proximity to Cork City is another major plus.

Notice...Bere Island Midsummer Run 5k & 10k - Sat 4th July 2015
This is quite probably one of the most spectacular spots for a road race in Cork if not the country. Bere Island on a fine day is an amazing spot with the backdrop of Bantry Bay and the Beara Peninsula.
There are plenty of races that are cheaper to enter but none are in such a scenic location. If you are thinking of going then it would really worth considering making a day of it rather than just going for the race itself.
The races take place in Rerrin village at the eastern end of the island...
There are two car and passenger ferries servicing the island...Bere Island Ferries and Murphy's Ferry.
You can pre-enter online HERE or on the day at the GAA grounds.
Course Preview.....A full preview of the course with directions, maps and photos can be seen HERE.

Road races in Cork over the next few days...Thurs 11th - Sun 14th June 2015
There is no shortage of road races in Cork over the next few days.
Thurs 11th June.....There is the Coolagown 5k race near Fermoy in NE Cork. This is organised by St.Nicolas AC and should draw a decent crown. More info in this previous post.
Fri 12th June.....Just a quick mention about the Clashmore 5 mile road race in West Waterford which has had to be postponed due to a bereavement.
Sat 13th June......This time it's up to NW Cork with the Ballyclough Harbour 5k road race. This should be of interest to anyone in that catchment area. More info HERE
Sun 14th June......And the final race is the Dunmanway 10k in West Cork. There always seems to be contrast of weather for this one...the sun is either splitting the stones or it's lashing rain. It's never dull and boring! ;o) More info HERE

Results & photos of the Cork BHAA Millipore 6k race...Wed 10th June 2015

A total of 409 runners turned out for the Cork BHAA race which when added to the 524 in Glanmire meant that there were over 900 runners taking part in races locally on Wednesday evening.

Results of the Glanmire 4 mile road race - Wed 10th June 2015
There was a large turnout of 524 runners for this years Glanmire 4 mile road race on Wed 10th June 2015. That's up about 5% on the number last year.
What's probably more amazing is the fact that it was on at the same time as a Cork BHAA race in Carrigtwohill which is only about 7 miles away. It just goes to show the huge pool of runners out there locally to support these races.
