Looking ahead to the 2024 Dungarvan 10-mile road race on Sun 4th Feb

Let's have a look at some of the key points for the upcoming Dungarvan 10-mile on Sunday 4th Feb 2024

  • The race will start at 11am. Allow plenty of time to find parking, warming up and getting to the start line. Remember there are about 3000 runners so that creates quite a few bottlenecks.

  • No headphones!

  • Wear the race number on the front of your running top, nowhere else.

  • Any gear left at the START line will be bagged up straight away for recycling to charity. Don't leave anything at the start that you want again.

As for the weather, it's pretty much ideal for a road race at the start of February. There will be no rain and it's likely to be mild and overcast. The temperature will be around 11 deg C which means you can run with a singlet or a short sleeve top if you're running at a reasonable pace and putting in the effort.

There is going to be a strong westerly breeze which will be a factor in the first half of the race on the way out to the 5-mile mark. On the flipside, it's a tailwind for part of the second half.

In contrast to some previous years, this year is going to be very tame.

The main thing is to enjoy the big day out in the Déise.
