Info from organisers: The Liberty Race is a virtual race of all ages and abilities to support and promote an inclusive society for people with functional disabilities.
The theme of this year’s race is ‘allyship’; by running, walking or rolling in the race, individuals of all abilities can show their allyship with people with physical disabilities, and in doing so, help raise funds for Irish Wheelchair Association.
Participants are encouraged to donate to the Irish Wheelchair Association. In parallel, to demonstrate Liberty’s value of putting people first, Liberty Insurance will also make a €1 donation to the IWA for every participant that completes the race, to a maximum of €5000.
This is the first year of the Liberty Race in Ireland. The race is in its 14th year in Spain, with thousands of people participating annually.
Participants can register for one or all of the 3 distance categories: 1km, 5km and 10km, and compete from anywhere they want.

Three-time Irish Olympian Natalya Coyle and four-time Irish Paralympian John Fulham today launched the Liberty Race, a virtual race taking place during International Day of People with Disability - on 02 – 05 December (Thursday – Sunday) - under the slogan #MovedByValues.
The virtual race, hosted in partnership with Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA), is open to individuals of all ages and abilities, and seeks to support and promote an inclusive society for people with functional disabilities. The theme of this year’s race is ‘allyship’; by running, walking or rolling in the race, individuals of all abilities can show their allyship with people with physical disabilities, and in doing so, help raise funds for Irish Wheelchair Association.
When and where
The virtual race will be held over three distances: 1km, 5km and 10km. Individuals or clubs can take part in the race anytime and anywhere during the race window (02 – 05 Dec), via the Liberty Race app.

Liberty donates
Participants are encouraged to donate to Irish Wheelchair Association. In parallel, to demonstrate Liberty’s value of putting people first, Liberty Ireland will also make a €1 donation to IWA for every participant that completes the race.
How do I sign up?
Participants can register for the race via the official website www.carreraliberty.es.
The Liberty Race App is free to download for Android and for IOS. Participants can record their official time via the Liberty Race App, or alternatively, they can record their time / distance via their own GPS devices and then upload to the Liberty Race App.

Liberty’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Liberty employs approximately 2,000 people across its Irish, Spanish and Portuguese operations, all of whom work fully remote, in line with Liberty’s fully digital working model introduced in March 2020. The insurer will be encouraging its entire staff to participate in the race.
As part of Liberty’s broader commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion, the company announced the creation of the DEI Council, an internal working group composed of elected employees, including CEO Juan Miguel Estallo, from which they work to guarantee diversity and equal opportunities for all its employees.
