The 200m indoor track in Nenagh, Co.Tipperary is the only one of its kind in Munster and is used every year for various Munster & County Indoor Championships. In the past, it was the venue for the National Championships but that is now held at the new state of the art facility in Athlone IT.
As indoor facilities go, it's pretty basic but it's an indoor track all the same. The host club Nenagh Olympic AC have now embarked on a major upgrade.
See below for more...
Their expansion plans include the following....
Phase 3 and beyond
Purchase of land adjoining the complex
A new hall at the rear of the complex measuring approx 600 sq m incorporating modern pole vault and indoor throwing event facilities. The hall will have an open plan view from the main arena.
A new insulated front facade to the building
An elevated balcony area overlooking the running track inside the front elevation
Gym and weights room
Equipment storage areas
This is the view of the next extension at the end of October 2016...
This is the updated view as of the start of December 2016....
As you can see, it's a major upgrade and I presume it may well be ready for the various Munster and County Championships at the start of 2017.
