Notice...LeisureWorld Rebel Run 10k - Sun 16th Oct 2016
This 10 km road race is coming up in Bishopstown on Sunday, the 16th of October 2016. That is a change from last year when it was in November. Once again, there is the option of a 5km race as well.
This is going to be of interest to a lot of people for a number of reasons.....
1) There aren't that many 10k races really on the calendar. Loads of 5k and 5 mile races but fast 10k courses are a bit thin on the ground.
2) In Bishopstown in Cork City so it is central to a lot of people.
3) Dry-fit top included in the early entry fee for both the 5k and 10k.

From Cork Sports Partnership...The LeisureWorld Rebel Run 10km & 5km is in its 5th year. It takes place on Sunday 16th October at 9.45am.
All entries are online and now open (Avail of Early Bird Rates before 9th October).
This Cork Sports Partnership Event, which is sponsored and supported by Cork Institute of Technology Sports (CIT) & LeisureWorld, offers runners of all levels a chance to enjoy some quiet and scenic roads & pathways around Bishopstown in the West of Cork City Suburbs.
The 10km is a traditional road race, with an accurately measured course using Jones Counter, Chip timing, with prizes for 1-2-3 Male & Female, and 1st in each age group. The course is a gentle rolling course with a mixture of roads and pathways. Entry fee is €15 before October 9th after which the fee increases to €20.
A goody bag including a nice dry fit style t-shirt is included for all entrants.
The 5km is a Fun Fitness event for beginners and people who wish to challenge themselves. There are no prizes for the 5km as its a participation event for all levels. (The 10km is available for more serious runners). More experienced runners are welcome to take part in the 5km as it will be chip timed, however the focus of the 5km is for people with a lower level of fitness, or who wish to take part in a more relaxed participation event.
Entry fee is €10 before October 9th after which the fee increases to €15.
Both races have a full Athletic Association of Ireland (AAI) permit.
Headphones are not permitted for Health & Safety reasons.
Please note that numbers and goody bags are to be collected on Friday 14th 5pm - 8pm or Sat 15th 12 - 2pm from the CIT Track. No collection or entries are available on the day of the race, due to volunteers having to focus on the event itself.

THERE WILL BE NO SIGN IN OR REGISTRATION THE MORNING OF THE EVENT.
Courses......There were some changes to the 10k course last year. The basic loop of the 10k is still the same as before and can be seen HERE
The 5k course starts with the 10k, takes in the walkway riverside behind CIT and finishes on the track as well. More info on the 5k course HERE

Hi John, Thought you'd like to know that the race website http://www.corksports.ie/index.cfm/page/howtoenter3 states that "Early bird offer closes on 5th October" rather than October 9th as mentioned at https://www.facebook.com/events/336525963359401/ I wonder which is correct? Also they seem to have used "souviner" instead of "souvenir" which has carried across to your blog :-) All the best and thanks for your trojan work keeping the blog updated.
