As cross country events go, there was a very large turnout. When the juvenile events were on, the centre of the field seemed to be full of people. It had the feel of a national event and certainly way more than would be expected in a county championships. Looking at the results for last year in Kerry, there was 127 men and 56 women in the Masters races. This year in Watergrasshill, there was 182 men and 66 women.....an increase of 43% and 18% respectively. Obviously holding it near a population centre like Cork City helps but easy access from the M8 motorway is obviously a big factor as well.

the stewarding was a joke especially at the turn in to the finish.. very confusing
whats the story with the conflicting results? Different mens club and county team results than given yesterday
seems to be problems with this event on a regular basis, why can,t they get stewarding right? how come yesterdays results were different to todays? Maybe both problems could be solved by letting Ballycotton Running Promotions or the bhaa run the events. They are used to dealing with double or triple the numbers of this event without any problems.
The stewards and the host club Carraig na bhFear AC did a great job. I saw one person get confused at the turn in to the finish during the men's race, at the end of the day if he walked the course like everyone else and counted his laps then he would have known to turn into the finish instead of running straight past it. It is completely unfair to say that the stewarding was a joke, some people don't realise the amount of work and organisation that goes in to hosting an event such as this.
The event was organised by the Munster Athletics Board. They didn't release any results until today Monday the 1st of December. They had a statement on their website earlier today that any other results on other websites were not correct. It's not that the team and county results were changed, it was that they were wrong on other sites.
Hi just wonder who released results early and where did they come from if not munster athletics board
was told that bronze medals were given to mens club and county who subsequently finished 4th, if this true its very unfair on them
Great work and a fantastic challenging course, its great as a runner just to turn up to these events and have everything in place, as coaches our job is to ensure the juveniles walk the course prior to the race and know where they are running and finishing. As Masters we are responsible for the same thing for our own race, the map of course was available on line and on the day. It is also normal practice to run the course as part of a warm up. We are all adults, and for anyone to think they should get one on one instructions, in a race of 180.... very confusing. I again congratulate the organisers. Well done to all and thank you!
Really enjoyed it. My first cross country race, I was surprised at the crowds. Really did Feek like a big national event. We were lucky with the weather. It must have been difficult for the stewards when the leaders started to lap the backmarkers...
No headphone wearers thats for sure :-)
Could anyone tell me why the County and Munster mens 065+ Cross Country Championships is not the same distance as the National ie.4000m
