On a sadder note, Ricki Savage from England who took part in the Dublin City Marathon last Monday has passed away. The 27 year old had just finished the race in 3 hours and 10 minutes and was taking part to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation. He unfortunately suffered a heart attack at the finish line and was rushed to hospital.
The president of Thanet Roadrunners Athletic Club said..."We were told earlier this afternoon that he hasn’t pulled through and we’re all devastated at the club. It was his first marathon but he was a very competent runner and he had done long distances before that. The paramedics worked on him for over 40 minutes before getting him to hospital. We’d like to express our gratitude for their work and for doing all they could.”
RIP
