Results of the Dungarvan 10 mile road race...Sun 27th Jan 2013

What a race! The 2013 John Treacy Dungarvan 10 mile road race was another great success with over 1,400 finishers, a record number. There was a threat of some rain at one stage but it didn't amount to much. A little bit cold but fine once you got going.

The three big positives I take from this race are....
1) Fast course
2) Fine spread afterwards.......always an important consideration ;o)
3) The excellent dry-fit top. At this stage, I probably have more tops than I know what to do with them but there is very obvious differences in quality. Some races promise 'tech tops' or 'dry-fit' tops but they are obviously cheap and of poor quality. The one given out in Dungarvan is a very good short sleeve Nike top which you would pay roughly €23 for in a sports shop. Remember, this race cost €20 to enter.

Anyone who ran the course today will have noticed that there were a large number of pools of water on the road. What may not be so obvious was the huge amount of work that West Waterford AC put into getting the course ready for the race. With the high winds and torrential rain the previous day, fallen branches had to be cleared and water diverted...

It's hard to imagine that we ran past this point less than 24 hours later.

If you are looking for a 'must do' race for 2014, keep this one in mind.

Have to agree with the comments;well run, plenty of water in bottles even for us slow coaches. My only gripe is that they ran out of small shirtsas early as ninty min finishers. This is something that needs to be addressed by alot of races. Its one thing having loads of race shirts, its another thing if they dont fit.It was great getting a hat in blarney, one size fits all.

A fantastic race, superbly organised. Great flat course. Not much point having a chip if there isn't a timing mat at the start though. Otherwise, no fault to find. Well done West Waterford AC

One of the best organised races that I have ever run. Great course and a full goodie bag at the end with a nice Nike dry-fit top. One for the calendar next year - definitely. Take note Clon, this is how it should be done!
Well done to all involved and thanks.

A great race. Loved the course and a great t shirt at the finish. Well done to west Waterford ac for putting on another great run. Can't wait till next year.

A great race, very well organised. I'll definitely be back again. Only negative was the timinig, why have a chip if there is no mat at the start? There should be a mat at the start, my time is out by 30 seconds which is very disappointing. The official times on the website and in the newspaper are only right for the people who are up at the front. Other than that it's a super race, well done West Waterford AC

Hats off too Waterford AC. Everything went off super. A nice course with plenty of water stops and an excellent goodie bag with a lovely dry fit nike t shirt. Best value race for 20 euro out of all the races in cork and waterford.

Without doubt one of the best races in the country. The organisation was brilliant, the atmosphere was great and the whole experience was exceptional. A fast flattish course on a well laid out and well stewarded course with times called out as the runners passed AND sports cap bottles at three stops! Plus a text with your time direct to your mobile within a few hours of the race.

The goody bag is fantastic, the catering afterwards was superb, the NIKE top is a really high quality - and all for €20.00! Just amazing. Makes you wonder how other races cost so much.

Well done to WWAC - yet another triumph.

A huge thank you goes to WWAC for another superb race. The bar is set so high by this event in terms of the course, stewarding, ease of entering and showers/tea/sandwiches at the end. Clon organisers - this is the way to do it.

Great race, really well organised and a great atmosphere. An absolute credit to west waterford.

Fantastic event, a run by runners for runners and the benchmark for anyone hoping to organise something similar. Fair credit due to wwac for keeping the same price structure as the popularity of the event has grown

Totally agree with all the comments made previously...this is a fantastic race, really well worth it. Excellent organisation and facilities, convenient to get to..no complaints really.

4th time running this race and have never come away thinking it was anything other than a great race. From start to finish I think it is organised extremely well. From price of entry, posting out of number and chip, ease of parking, wide road for start and 1st few hundred metres, stewards everywhere required, great course, excellent Nike top and the showers and food afterwards is just fab in the hall. Congratulations to WWAC and everyone else who helped to make this race what it is today. See ye again next year.

Thank you for superb organisation - in spite of serious weather difficulties. A great run and the hospitality afterwards was extremely generous. Excellent stewarding. These details should not be taken for granted! I have taken part in runs where the entry fee was much more expensive and they score very badly by comparison with Dungarvan. Take a bow!

Thank you for great preparation, generous hospitality and excellent stewarding. More expensive runs could learn from you.
