Updated 20:30....They will now hold the race on Sat 15th of January at 12 noon.
I know a lot of runners from Cork were travelling to this one so if you know of someone then let them know.
In fairness to Waterford AC, it's not an easy decision to make and by postponing it on Wednesday, they are allowing plenty of time for the word to get out.
See the statement below..."We have decided to postpone the race this Saturday. Looking at the route today there is no way it will be clear even if it was 40 degrees tomorrrow and Friday. The conditions would be too dangerous. We will run the race on

Thanks John for the update. Any word on Clonakilty yet. When are they likely to decide if it goes ahead or not. If someone had booked a hotel then they would need to be cancelling that soon or risk losing their money. Also the race packs now also need to collected and a lot of people would like to do this on the Friday. Has anyone been talking to the organisers on what the state of the roads are like down there. keep up the good work John.
John, The Clon marathon organisers told me this morning that they are going ahead with the race "110%".
This evenings forecast predicts a thaw over the next 2 days with clear skies for Saturday.
Are you heading west?
Thanks For the update John.
Allan
Thanks for the update Grellan. Yes, I'm down to run the full Marathon. Not too pushed with time though, just get around.
Just a comment for anyone in Dublin / Leinster reading this...
The weather situation in Cork is completely different from Dublin. We have had very little snow and what small bit that we did get is gone. The only issue in Cork at the moment is ice/frost on the roads and hopefully, the thaw will sort that out.
do we get our entry fee refunded???
Regarding refunds, this is what the organisers say..."If you do email looking for a refund please include your address. Refunds will be sent out after the 15th January as we will do them all together so bear with us, thanks"
Does this mean all the faster runners will now be going to Clon?
See you Saturday John - usual 8 minute pace?
