Last Sunday (28th Nov 2010), the National Inter-County Cross Country Championships took place in Derry. Conditions at that end of the country were a complete contrast to those in Cork with what looked like almost artic conditions out on the course.

Here is a description of the race from the Cork AAI...
Lizzie Lee (Leevale AC) took individual silver in the senior ladies race, a performance that guaranteed her a place on the Irish team for the European Cross Country championships in a couple of weeks time. The Cork team did well to snatch bronze medals in the intercounty contest behind Dublin and Meath.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the senior mens race where the standard was as always of a particularly high calibre. Dublin were not to be denied another title with 4 of their top 6 finishers inside the top 10. The Cork team performed admirably though and finished a clear 2nd, the margin on this occasion much smaller than in previous years. Top Cork finisher was Mark Hanrahan (Leevale AC) in 10th with Fergus Meade (East Cork AC) who made the long trip from Leeds rounding out the top 6 in 43rd place. With a number of last minute injury withdrawals this was a particularly fine performance by the Cork team.
