The 2026 edition of the Cork BHAA Stryker 4-mile road race was held on Tuesday 28th of April on a lovely dry evening in Carrigtwohill. There were 548 finishers this year which is up just over 3% on the 530 last year.

The Cork BHAA Stryker 4-mile road race was held in Carrigtwohill on Wed 30th April 2025 on what turned out to be a lovely sunny evening. It would have passed for one of the best days for the Summer rather than being the last day of Spring.

The change from the usual August date to late April doesn't seem to have done any harm as the number of finishers increased from 503 in 2024 to 530 in 2025.

This 4 mile race in Carrigtwohill in East Cork is coming up on Wednesday the 30th of April at 7:30pm. This is a change from the last few years when it was held in August and it is now reverting back to its more traditional April date.

As with all Cork BHAA events, the entry fee is €5 for registered runners and €10 for non-registered.

Located just a few minutes drive from the Jack Lynch tunnel, this one is very close to Cork City and is easy to get to.

This 4 mile race in Carrigtwohill in East Cork is coming up on Wednesday the 16th of August at 7:30pm. As with all Cork BHAA events, the entry fee is €5 for registered runners and €10 for non-registered.

Located just a few minutes drive from the Jack Lynch tunnel, this one is very close to Cork City and is easy to get to.

The race HQ is the local community centre and the race route takes in a loop to the north of Carrigtwohill. Note that the start line is a few hundred metres away so allow plenty of time to get there.

As BHAA races go, this one is noted for having some pretty good prizes and of course, there are loads on offer with the various categories and teams.

In addition to the race, the organisers are holding a raffle to raise extra fund for the CUH charity.

From the organisers... "A raffle of fantastic prizes will be held with proceeds going to CUH Children’s unit. The raffle prizes include a €500 hotel voucher, sports jerseys, vouchers and much more!

There was a big turnout for the Cork BHAA Stryker 4-mile road race in Carrigtwohill with 528 runners crossing the finish line. This is certainly well in excess of the numbers for a lot of other local races in Cork.

Note: This 'cycleway' from Carrigtwohill to the Dunkettle roundabout will be a great asset for walkers and runners as well.

Stryker is showing heart this Valentine’s Weekend 

Investment of more than €70,000 provides life-saving equipment along a newly-opened County Cork cycleway in partnership with Cork County Council

10th February 2022, Cork: Stryker, one of the world’s leading medical technology companies, together with Cork County Council is delivering life-saving defibrillators to the local community in Carrigtwohill and Glounthaune, Co Cork. The newly opened section of the cycleway, which was constructed with the support of Stryker, provides the ideal location for defibrillators. The several-kilometre stretch of cycleway which is already being utilised, will see numbers accessing the amenity increase as the cyclelink expands across Cork County over the coming months. With the support of Cork County Council, Stryker will initially install three defibrillators with more to be installed as the cycleway expands.

AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) dramatically increase the chance of a person surviving in the event of suffering from a sudden cardiac arrest by delivering a shock to the heart which can help it to resume its normal rhythm. Stryker-designed and manufactured AEDs have been delivered to other communities across the country as part of the company’s community outreach to make this life-saving equipment more accessible.

Stryker 4 mile race raises over €8000 for charity

The annual Cork BHAA Stryker 4 mile road race was held in Carrigtwohill on Wednesday the 26th of April and a total of 666 runners took part, a jump of 14% on the 583 of last year. A cheque for €8,117 from the proceeds of the race was presented recently to CUH Children's Unit.


From the CUH..."We are so thankful to everyone at #StrykerCarrigtwohill for presenting us with a cheque to the value of €8,117 for CUH Children's Unit, as a result of their #StrykerRoadRace last April. 680 runners came out on the night to support it, we are very grateful to each and every one of you. Sincere thanks also to Carrigtwohill Community Centre for making the event such a success by serving food and refreshments and to BHAA for hosting it."
