In an effort to clamp down on the spread of the COVID-19 disease, the Government have announced that as of midnight on Friday the 27th of March, all individual exercise must be within 2kms of your own home.
This restriction lasts until the 12th of April 2020.

Note that the instruction is for BRIEF individual physical exercise. It's not for running up and down the road within 2kms of your house and clocking up a half-marathon!

Is it you can just run slightly over 1 mile a day so?

it isn't all bad. If you 2kms in different compass directions and back you can rack up a nice distance. So for example 4km out to north and back, south and back, east and back, west and back. Find a park or field close to the house and do as many laps as you can. It also helps if it is done early in the morning on roads where you won't meet people. 2km is 1.2 miles. Now to be fair it isn't immediate exercise but if you obey all the rules in particular getting up early (6-7 am) then it's fine. Spend the rest of the day at home.
The guidelines are for 'BRIEF' exercise. This means in reality something like 4-5 kms at most.
Remember that if you're out doing 'multiple loops', the more likely you are pick up something on your shoes and bring it back to your house.
Unlikely to get virus by picking something up on your shoes.Physical contact with people seems to be the main danger, don't think its airborne either, so if you can run by yourself you should be ok.Difficult i know for people living in built up area's. I am very lucky in that i live in the country and see nobody when out running. Hopefully we'll see this through and get back to some kind of normality
judging by strava everyone breaking the rules. some guys cycling 30k other runners doing 15 miles on a sunday
Depends where the 15 miles is? If doing it in a place where there are other walkers/runners then its totally iresponsible, if on a very quite secluded road where you meet nobody, then you might get away with it.I would'nt do more than 6 or 7 miles though, and that would be in a very quite area.
