Notice: Mallow 10 mile road race cancelled - Sun 22nd March 2020

Please note that the Mallow 10 mile road race has been cancelled.

Mallow Athletic Club regret to announce that the 2020 Coop Superstores Mallow 10 mile road race scheduled for Sunday 22nd March will not go ahead at this time.

We have been monitoring recent events and in the interests of safeguarding the health of event participants, spectators, volunteers and our own club members we have decided on this course of action.

We are due to meet in the coming week to discuss options for re-scheduling the event as well as how the refund process will work. Please note a full refund will be offered to all participants.

We ask for you to bear with us at this time and we would like to thank all participants along with our sponsors, volunteers and members for all the hard work and support in organising the race to date.

Kind regards

Clive Aherne

Club chairperson

The Mallow 10 mile road race is coming up on Sunday the 22nd of March 2020 at 12:30pm. Entries opened on Friday December 6th.

There will be a lot of demand for this race and it will certainly sell out. Outside of the Dungarvan 10, this is probably the second most popular 10 miler in Munster.

Going on previous entries, the Dungarvan 10 is an event that sells out in hours where as the Mallow 10 sells out in weeks. There is also a race dry fit top for all participants.

From Mallow AC... "We are delighted to announce that Co-op Superstores continue as title sponsor of the Mallow 10 mile road race on Sunday 22nd March 2020.

This is the second year Co-op Superstores are title sponsor and we are delighted to have such a great local business onboard.

The Co-op Superstores Mallow 10 mile race goes on sale next Friday 6th December. Get in early as this race sells out fast!

This is probably the wise call based on the projections of where the COVID 19 situation might end up... happy to support the guys at Mallow AC when they get to reschedule.

Great event and well organised.

Good call. I assume all other races will also be cancelled for the foreseeable future?

Athletics Ireland should step in and ban any race with over 500 participants.

The main road, the M20 was in poor condition too. Big roadworks going on. Cork city organisers need to make a decision too
