Results of the FitLive 5k at Cork Airport...Sat 18th Nov 2017

This commercial 5k at Cork Airport was organised by the Irish Independent Newspaper and was held in the early hours of Sat 18th Nov 2017.

The full results are up on the MyRunResults website.

Just a quick stat. 52% of the field were over 30 minutes as opposed to say 12% in the John Buckley 5k in the city during the summer. A lot of people in the airport race were probably not the usual regulars on the local race circuit.

Brilliant Event On What Was A Wonderful Night For Running - Fabulous Goodies And Excellent Atmosphere

Surely Cork Airport could have picked another Friday night instead of two days after a charity run in the city? It's almost as if they were trying to do as much damage to the charity race as possible to drive it off. Surely choosing a date a week or two apart would result in more numbers for both events?

Excellent event and huge credit must go the organisers and especially the stewards who stand in the cold for hours . Thanks to all , without Ye we'd never have the chance to run up a runway without the fear of being chased by airport Police .

A good night for a run . Excellent running weather . did not overrun on time too much, Great atmosphere and a nice goody bag. Well organized. but for the fact they ran out of t shirts for people who had booked early bird. That was the only negative. Well done on all the supprters and volunteers .

Great event again, thanks to volunteers

Booked months in advance . . . No t-shirt. Sloppy for a commercial event.

Enjoyed the run though and bravo the volunteers!

The Shannon one clashes with a local club race in limerick. Any runner with interest in clubs should stay away from these and support the club races instead. The more people are willing to park with cash to run on an airport the more the clubs will suffer.

Maybe have some consideration for the airport itself. This date would had to have been selected months in advance for the fact there was no flights coming in after midnight and on a Friday. Otherwise you'd have been home considerably later than you were on Friday night/Sat morning. It's almost impossible to keep everyone happy with regards to scheduling. This is probably one of the most difficult races to organise seeing as you actually pass through a secure zone, on to an active runway! They have to go back out long after the race is done and check the runway for items which may have been dropped, account for every single person involved, incl stewards, competitors, organisers, press etc etc. All this considered it is very well Co-ordinated. Other events and races could take a leaf out of their book and see how things can be done properly.

Well done to all involved, my only gripe was the waiting around! It was hard going!
