Why have they added seconds to even the elites who were right on the start line?h
Great race, sure is straight and flat! Very warm also but at least there was a nice cooling breeze.
Registration was very quick and efficient. Plenty parking, marshals, water and food. Results out within 3 hrs.
Only slight neg was the number of available toilets. Had to queue for 15mins. But all in all great days racing with a PB
Considering there was a lot of drama over medals, tshirts and entry fees a lot of credit must be given to Micheal Herlihy, North Cork AC and all the volunteers who gave up their time. These events aren't cheap to run and contrary to what people might think very little money is made with any profits being ploughed back into promoting running in Charleville and North Cork/South Limerick county.
good race. tough first half with the heat . . looking at the spilts from half way, all the top 20 and more seem to have ran positive spilts, i found the heat v tough and could have done with water around 8k, great spread afterwards and it is a pb course, but not today :(
i started behind the 1.30 pacers and finished with them but my start time and finish time are both the same , i think when you pay that amount of money for a half marathon the least they can do is get your times correct
Would people ever relax about times and distances of races.races are measured by jones counter NOT GPS OR GARMINS.If your time is out by a few seconds who really cares.Is it going to have such a major impact on your life that your feel it necessary to be negative and go to the trouble of critising a race which was very well organised
Well done to all involved in organising today's race. It was well marshalled, plenty of water and no traffic problems. Got a pb and will definitely be back again next year.

Great day, Only Cork can organise great weather. Brilliant after race food, fair play to all. Will be back next year. Great value, club races will always outshine commercial events! Thanks from all the Dunboyne runners.
Wasnt there meant to be 1:20 pacers there? was it just me or were they nowhere to be seen at the start?
Of the first 200 finishers 197 had a positive spilt - that'll tell ya how hard the conditions were in the second half. The 3 negative splits were down the field too so not even the best runners at the front could manage it
Well done to all concerned. plenty parking, no bother getting number, start on time, course well stewarded, smiling kids at every water stop, good atmosphere at the finish and lots of food and beverages with no queueing. Recieved a text soona fter with my time. Got a long sleeve t-shirt that is bright and ideal for winter training.
Yes I paid money to enter but I feel I got a good return on it.
The day was bit too hot for me but then there is only so much that organisers can control...
I will be back.

I had such a lovely time yesterday! from the smiley friendly reg people to the lovely lovely pacers (1;50). god everyone was so nice. the tea and refreshments after were fantastic. again people serving were so lovely. Positive expereince bar the run itself which i controlled. I really really cant sing the praises of everyone involved enough! Pity to see the people being treated after. hope they are ok and the runner that was involved in the accident on the way home....
Well done guys, brilliant organised race. Big cheer out to the kiddies with the water hoses and to the food afterwards. People should forget about times and enjoy the day and focus on the positive and good work the volunteers did.
As for the post about the postive splits,i think it was 10k the second timing mat was at and not half way mark
i think the mat was well after 10k so would have been a half way split.cant say if it was exactly half way. second half was windy and hot hence the pos splits.
Well done North Cork AC. Nothing bad to say about the race except I didnt get a PB but that wont stop me from doing it again.
I hope all the injured that were been treated are ok and the guy that crashed his car on the Mallow/Cork road is ok.
As for the half way point; The 10km mark was just before the 2nd castle in Kilmallock (outside my grandmothers front door) and the half way mat was around the corner from the church so it was in the right place.

there was a sign for the 10km and a water stop just after it. then another sign for half way, the road narrowed at the half way point to get everyone over the timing mats
Great race & organisation, will definitely be back!
What makes the Charleville Half stand out from other races is the strong involvement by the local athletics club in the planning & organisation of the event. They had volunteers from all ages give up their time to make the race more enjoyable for us runners. From the staff & catering crew at race HQ to the stewards & water crew out on the course .... they were all brilliant, especially the young kids. It's no easy task organisating a big race like this but North Cork AC pulled it off so well. Looking forward to racing it again next year and enjoying the Charleville Hospitality and hopefully another PB.
I had a gripe and a moan when they announced the price rise earlier this year for this event. But if the cash left in the kitty at the end after all the overheads is going back into the club I can't criticise that.My second time running this and it really is a positive experience from start to finish. Well done North Cork AC, see you again next year.
Very impressed with organisation and local hospitality. Unfortunately for me had to pull up at 5/6 mile mark with injury. Still short of killmallock and facing long walk back one of the locals very generously drove me back as far as possible on back roads because of road closures. From there steward drove remaining distance without I even having to ask anyone. Thanks to both, really appreciated and a great example of how race is well organised and supported
