A total of 99 people turned out for this years Route to Crook 5 mile road race from Goleen to Crookhaven in West Cork. Looking back through the blog at the results for the previous years, the numbers seem to be steadily declining.
From 147 in 2010, it was down to 137 in 2011, 112 in 2012 and now 99 this year. The reason? I suspect that a few years ago, it may have been the only race in the county over the weekend. Now, there are so many races and fun runs on the calendar that perhaps the more remote ones are losing out?

In fairness it a lovely race, done it a few times over the past few years but the 2 hours plus drive is a killer. I hope to do it again in the future but it something you have to commit well in advance of the race.
