Supergirl Dolores sets new Guinness World Record at 2018 Cork City Marathon

Dolores Duffy running on behalf of Cork University Hospital (CUH) completed the 2018 Cork City Marathon last weekend to set a new Guinness World record! Dressed as Supergirl, she set a new record for the 'Fastest female marathon in a TV character costume'.

Dolores completed the 26.2 mile course in a time of 3 hrs 20 mins 37 secs and beat the previous record of 4 hrs 13 mins 39 secs achieved by Alice Gerlach (UK) at the 2017 London Marathon.

Dolores is pictured above with Mike McGrath who was part of the CUH relay team that also raised funds for the hospital. Photo credit Derek Costello.

Dolores is of course no stranger to the local Cork race scene and has completed an amazing 65 marathons to date! She currently runs about 14 marathons a year and her current personal best is 3 hrs 08 mins for the distance.

Dolores ran the Cork marathon with two witness runners as shown below in order to secure the record. Statements and photos will now be submitted to Guinness HQ for verification.
