Organised by St.Nicholas AC, the venue for the race is the small village of Coolagown which is just a few miles east of Fermoy.
From the organisers.....Coolagown is a small rural village in the north of County Cork. As its name suggests , the village has a long association with smithing. Over the years , Coolagown became famous for its horses and there are several well-known stud farms here. In recent times it has become very well known in Tidy Town circles for its relatively rapid rise in the competition and for a near-unrivalled consistency in high achievements in the upper echelons of the competition. The village has had a 7-year run of Gold Medals as well as a number of other prizes and awards including Entente Florale and Greening Communities.
The 5K run takes place in one of the prettiest villages in Ireland, a village beautifully maintained and a showpiece in how a rural community works together to achieve a wonderful result.
For anybody walking the 5k this will officially commence from the start line at 6:30pm sharp: adults are 5 euro and children are free. All adult walkers will receive a ticket for refreshments afterwards and all children will receive a ticket for a free goody bag after the walk.
