Results of the Cork BHAA FMC 4 mile race...Sun 22nd Jan 2012

This 4 mile road race was held back on Sunday, the 22nd of January 2012 in Little Island. There was a big crowd of 507 runners at this race. I presume with the influx of new non-reg runners, that was probably the main reason why it started late. Looks like we might be in for a year of record numbers at the races again?

The results are HERE

it has taken 8 days for results again for this race will it be the same for teh rest of the year with the bhaa or will they actually do them on time, dungarvan had 1200 run on sunday and results posted on the day, and qith that total of runners, why so many non reg?

This BHAA bashing is getting a bit tiresome. They run well organised events with a time clock at the finish, so you can get your time or else you can wear a watch. I agree that it would be nice to get faster results to see your placing but this is not their strong point unfortunately. Keep up the good work John, site is great.

^ to Anonymous. I'm going to assume stuff here;
1 - Its all done by hand. All that info in registering, signing up and race results have to be typed in afterwards.
2. I'm sure Dungarvan was all computerised.
3. Is the reason that the BHAA take the audio recording of the name at the finish line queue is to verify the race number to the signed name afterwards? If so, that too has to be checked, all 500 names.

To John; I think you'll just have to add a note from now on to BHAA preview run posts, that results may take a few days/up to a week.

It's like clockwork at this stage. Some whinger comes on and complains about the length of time for BHAA results to come out!! It's getting pretty tired at this stage.
They put a huge amount of work into it and it's all VOLUNTARY. Dungarvan had timing chips in case you hadn't noticed. The BHAA don't have that luxury for races that are registration on the day. As for your question as to why so many non-reg ? In case you hadn't noticed we're in a recession and running has increased in popularity in the last few years because it's cheap and enjoyable. More people = more time to process results. Quit whinging or go and find another sport!

will people ever stop Knocking the BHAA . these lads give up their time free of charge so us runners can go out and run a race.if runners or non runners want to get the result out quicker why not give them a hand ,they depend on others to get the results out to us .Dungarvan paid a company to do their results hence we got the results on the same day . well done to the BHAA KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK LADS

Well done BHAA ....Its standard at this stage that its 7 days before the full results are out as its all done by hand, its a complex scoring system that's why its 7 days but again all done on a VOLUNTARY basis..ALl for a fiver ...Great stuff BHAA ....

All this defending of the BHAA is also getting very tiresome. The fact is that the results are ridiculously slow, there can be long cold waits in the queues afterwards, and the method of taking down people's names, etc. is archaic. This constant talk of the time the BHAA members give up, and the huge work they put in is also irritating. It's a voluntary organisation like thousands of others around the country but that isn't an excuse for not doing it right. I could be wrong but I very much doubt that the amount of time the BHAA members put in compares to the time that GAA, Soccer, Rugby coaches etc. put in. I've spoken to many BHAA volunteers and they are all very friendly but that's not the point.

I ran one of the 5K'S in Killarney before Christmas and they had the results online within 2 hours and they had about 300 in that race - so there are no excuses for the BHAA!

One question to the whingers - If the BHAA annoy you that much why do you go to the races ? And as for that 5k in Killarney. That was a one off and not part of a series. The BHAA need to calculate team points, individual handicaps etc. It's not as simple as just putting the order of finishers out.

did the top 4 in the mens and womens get prizes. Reason I ask is normally its the first 3, but 4 names are listed in the mens and womens senior section?

The race I did in Killarney was part of a series - they had 4 races and from asking all four races results were up within 2/3 hrs and the numbers for each of the races were about 300. I do enjoy the BHAA races and did the 4 miler, but the results situation does need to be looked at. As the person said previously why not first put out the results in order of finishers and later in the week tidy them up - that keeps everyone happy.

in this day and age a computer system could be bought to do all the paperwork, plenty money in the bhaa piggy bank i reckon.im running 35 years and its still the same as it was, nothing to do with recession ,just typical lack of organisation and willingness to move with the times.if leevale can plan to build an indoor running track i think the bhaa could buy a race results programme
