From the organisers... 13th Annual Cork Rebel Run – Registration Now Open!
Sunday, 19th October | Munster Technological University, Bishopstown
The ever-popular Cork Rebel Run returns for its 13th year on Sunday, 19th October 2025, bringing runners of all abilities together for a morning of running, fun, and community spirit.
Organised by Cork Sports Partnership, Leisureworld Cork, and Munster Technological University – and proudly supported by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, and The Edge Sports Shop – the event offers participants a choice of 5km or 10km routes.
Starting on the MTU campus and finishing on its state-of-the-art athletics track, both routes take in the scenic Curraheen River Walk and promise a rewarding challenge for everyone, from first-time 5k runners to experienced athletes chasing a new personal best.
Up to 1,000 runners are expected to take part in this year’s event, with every registered participant receiving: A special edition Cork Rebel Run T-shirt, An EDGE Sports water bottle and a goody bag filled with treats and surprises.
Ahead of the big day, over 200 people from 12 Cork communities are preparing for the event through an 8-week, tutor-led Couch to 5k programme with locations in Bishopstown, Ballincollig, Bantry, Turners Cross, Carraig na bhFear, Ballineen, Ballyhooly, Kinsale, Macroom, Innishannon, Banteer, and Glanmire.
Craig Harrington, Athletics Development Officer for Cork & MTU, said:
“The Rebel Run has something for everyone – whether you’re a recreational runner, a serious athlete, or taking on your very first 5k. Our team and partners are committed to making this year’s event the biggest and most memorable yet, and we can’t wait to see the MTU track full of smiling faces crossing the finish line.”
Maurice O’Sullivan, Sports & Marketing Manager with Cork Sports Partnership, added:
“The Cork Rebel Run is more than just a race – it’s a celebration of community, participation, and active living. Each year, we see individuals, families, and groups using the event as a milestone in their personal fitness journeys. We are proud to work with local clubs, coaches, and communities to make running more accessible across Cork, and we encourage everyone to join us on October 19th to experience the unique atmosphere of the Rebel Run.”
