A total of 495 runners turned out for this years Togher AC 55k road race on the 27th of December 2021. While this is a good figure for a 5k race in Cork City, it is however down a whopping 38% on the 797 of two years ago.
As can be seen from the chart above, the numbers are worse than the previous three outings.

As might be expected for a race in Cork City, it attracted mostly runners from Cork City with 20% of the field breaking the 20 minute mark. By comparison, 45% of the field for the recent Newmarket 5k broke 20 minutes and seems to have attracted a faster field from a wider area.
The first woman home was Michelle Finn who also broke the course record with a fine time of 16m 05s.
