Race Statement from the organisers...
It is with regret but inevitable that we have to inform you that we have decided to cancel our award winning 10KM race that was to take place on June 6th this year.
We held out as long as we could on making this decision but it’s become very clear that circumstances outside of our control have won over and that the restrictions in place with regards to Covid 19 are probably not going to be lifted fully and large gatherings are still probably not going to be permitted by the time we reach June 6th.
Also Doneraile Park is closed and this forms a large part of our course.
Our timing company will be in touch with all registered participants in the next few weeks informing u of the next options.
It is our hope before then to be able to confirm a date for our event in 2021 sooner rather that later and then be in a position to transfer all entries to the 2021 event.
If this option isn’t agreeable to any of our registered participants we will of course offer you a full refund as soon as it as practicable possibly for our timing company partners to do so.
We had pondered the idea of rescheduling our race to later this year but on consideration we felt that the race calendar would be quite overloaded in the final months of 2020 and we believe we honestly couldn’t approach local business and organisations who are at the heart of our community, who have always supported us and ask for sponsorship after what has been a very challenging and unprecedented time for so many local companies.
After all, for any race committee to run a successful event, sponsorship from the local community is vital.
At this point We want to thank some of our valued sponsors who had already come on board with us for 2020 and we thank you for your understanding regards the situation we have found ourselves in and we look forward to dealing with you all again in 2021
As for any potential sponsors we have had conversations with, we thank you for considering to sponsor our event and we hope we can pick up were we left off next year and work together successfully in 2021.
We had run a public competition for free entries to this years event and we have informed the winners that we will honour your wins in 2021.
We had also invited back our male/female winners from 2019 to this years event and again we have informed them we will honour that in 2021.
Finally we thank you the running public for attending our award winning events in previous years, we are disappointed we won’t get to meet up this June and run together in the beautiful surrounds of Doneraile and we look forward with anticipation to seeing you in Doneraile in 2021.
And on a final note we must thank all our valued club members for ur help and the willingness u have shown as we attempted to run another successful event this year, and hopefully we will be back together again soon planning and organising for 2021.
Hopefully us runners will all see each other at some point this year at another race event.
