For the second week in a row, conditions have been wet and dreary for the weekly 5k parkrun at the Tramore Valley Park in Cork City. This was reflected in the numbers with 42 taking part, up from the 33 of last week during the storm.
As can be seen above, there has been a dramatic drop in numbers with the recent wet weather. With most road races, the drop might be something like 20% but it seems to be a lot higher in this particular instance. Perhaps it's a case of the regular runner who would normally use it as a training run opting for a dryer option on Sunday instead? It'll be interesting to see how it rebounds in the New Year on a dry Saturday morning. With Operation Transformation being plastered all over the TV and Facebook, it will probably get a boost from that.

Well done to the volunteers who do a wonderful job regardless of the weather. Top marks for coming out in the awful conditions the last few Saturdays.
Well done to everybody who turned out in such difficult conditions today and all the volunteers . it was by no means an easy job today or an easy run. Hopefully there will be a big turn out for the christmas run next Saturday
I think the reference to the 20% drop in numbers needs to be put into perspective. Most races were cancelled last week due to the appalling weather. The Macroom park run was cancelled both last week and this week, due again to the poor weather. Yet, due to the dedication of the volunteers the Tramore Valley park run took place both last week and this week.
Have done a few races and enjoyed them. The weather and the time of year have had an effect. I Predict a 400+ run sometime early in the new year. Well done to volunteers. #Heroes
